The African Institute for Capacity Development (AICAD) invites eligible researchers and research teams from its member universities in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda to submit proposals under the AICAD Research and Development Support Programme.
This programme is designed to support applied, community-centered research with strong potential to reduce poverty through human capacity development. AICAD seeks research that goes beyond theory—work that generates practical solutions, strengthens local capacities, and delivers measurable benefits to communities.
Research Focus Areas
Proposed projects should demonstrate:
- Clear relevance to community needs
- Practical application of research findings
- Contribution to poverty reduction through capacity building
- Pathways for translating knowledge into training, extension, innovation, or policy action
Funding Categories
AICAD will consider proposals under the following funding windows:
- Discipline-Specific Research
Up to USD 8,000 - Multidisciplinary Research
Up to USD 10,000 - Graduate Students’ Research
Up to USD 5,000
