I am Rev. Dr. Walter Akuno, a senior Lecturer at JOOUST. Until June 2025 I was served as the Registrar in charge of Academic and Student Affairs at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology, a position I have held for the last thirteen (13) years. Before this I was the Registrar in charge of Research, Innovation and Outreach for a period of three years at the same University. Prior to this I had a one-year stint as Deputy Registrar in charge of Planning, Research and Extension Services at Maseno University. Earlier I had along tour of duty in the Ministry of Agriculture and KALRO formerly, KARI. In a nutshell I have an all-round experience in all sectors in the University, touching on the three mandates- Training, Research & Outreach as well as administration.

I hold a PhD in Agricultural Extension. I am involved in teaching of both undergraduate and postgraduate as well as supervision of postgraduate students. I have won several grants, totaling to about Ksh. 32million and I continue to write proposals for research grants. My latest funded proposal is by the National Research Fund NRF), totaling to Ksh.17M under multi- disciplinary research. I have in so far done eighteen (18) publications in peer reviewed journals. I have been involved in major grant writing teams including one from the World Bank (INSEFOODS), and VLIR-OUS project among others which have since been funded.
