Overview

The African Institute for Capacity Development (AICAD) is continuing to play a pivotal role in advancing open science across the continent, having been selected as one of the initial three regional nodes of the African Open Science Platform (AOSP). AICAD is currently serving as the Eastern African Node, with its headquarters based in Kenya, for a five-year term that commenced in June 2023. As the regional node, AICAD is actively coordinating and promoting open science initiatives, fostering regional collaboration among research institutions, and strengthening capacities in data stewardship, infrastructure development, and knowledge sharing. By engaging stakeholders, organizing capacity-building activities, and supporting policy development, AICAD is contributing to the vision of making African science more visible, accessible, and impactful within the global research landscape.
