Prof. Aloys N. Mvuma

Vice Chancellor of Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST)

Prof. Aloys N. Mvuma has been Vice Chancellor and Associate Professor at Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST) since February 2019. Prior to that, he held various leadership roles at the University of Dodoma (UDOM), including Principal of the College of Informatics and Virtual Education (2014–2019) and Dean of the School of Informatics (2008–2014). He also served as Deputy Director of the Centre for Virtual Learning at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) from 2007–2008.

He was a Research Associate at Hiroshima University, Japan (2003–2005), and later joined UDSM as a Lecturer in Telecommunications Engineering (2005–2008). He became a Senior Lecturer at UDOM in 2008 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2013.

Prof. Mvuma holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from UDSM, an MSc in Computer and Information Science from Shimane University, and a Doctorate in Engineering from Hiroshima University.

He has supervised over 30 Master’s and six PhD students, served as an external examiner at several universities, and authored over 60 publications, including journal articles, conference papers, and book chapters. He has served on multiple boards including Mbeya WSSA, eGA, RUWASA, ATUPA, and AICAD. He is a member of the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) and IEEE.
