MUNICIPALITY SPATIAL PLANNING – AUGUST 2019

Target Group: Planners for the 37 municipalities in Uganda

Brief Description:

AICAD in conjunction with UN Habitat, Ministry of Local Government, Kyambogo University and Makerere University organized a Municipalities’ Spatial Planning course which was conducted from 27th – 30th July 2019 in Fort Portal Uganda. The course targeted 37 Municipal Planners from 37 Municipalities and 8 University Planners from 8 AICAD Partner Universities. This was intended to help Municipality Planning Officers in Uganda appreciate and support the Spatial Planning process and address these challenges.

Objectives:

  • To Create awareness on the key roles of Municipality planners in spatial planning
  • To expound the role of Municipality Spatial planning in addressing development challenges at municipal, district and national level
  • To create awareness on Municipality Spatial Planning Guidelines and Frameworks
  • To equip Municipality Planners with knowledge and skills on Formulation, implementation and monitoring of Municipality spatial plans
  • To equip Municipality Planners with knowledge and skills in budget allocation and financing of spatial planning processes.
  • To create awareness on Institutional and technical capacity development for Municipality planning departments

Summary of the training

The 7th In-Country training in Entrepreneurship Development was highly rated by the participants who showed that they had obtained new abilities and information to improve their districts spatial arranging method. They showed that Monitoring and assessment of Municipality plans was extremely pivotal and turned out to be a significant component. The key strides in creating Municipality Spatial plans likewise turned out as a significant territory which members said they were going to execute at their individual districts

Participants additionally felt illuminated on existing worldwide best practice in the fields of arranging and felt that a great deal of significant worth had been included which would push a ton to streamline forms at their metropolitan gatherings.
